I’m running for Congress for the same reason I joined the military after 9/11 – because America is in danger and we need to do something about it.

Government spending is out of control and too many people are out of work.  Career politicians have failed to move us closer to economic recovery or a balanced budget.

While this goes on in Washington, hundreds of thousands of Americans are serving in harm’s way around the world.  If our troops are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our country thousands of miles away, then shouldn’t members of Congress be willing to risk their political careers to protect the American dream back home?

I’ve never been afraid to lead.  As the oldest of nine children and as an Eagle Scout in my youth, I guided those younger than myself.  As a Navy intelligence officer, I was honored to serve in Afghanistan alongside America’s finest Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.  I directed the campaign to save the Submarine Base in Groton and its 30,000 related jobs.  And I’ve fought for taxpayers as a cabinet official and budget hawk for the State of Connecticut.  I don’t take responsibility lightly and I’ve never thrown in the towel on a tough job.

As your representative in Congress, you can count on me to lead when it matters most.  I’m not a career politician looking for the next fancy title or government pension.  I’m a patriot who believes we can renew America’s greatness by electing leaders who know how to serve our country and accomplish tough missions.
